Outside of the city, dramatic rocky cliffs descend to pristine bays and gorgeous beaches.
Our first Caribbean port of call, Antigua, offers miles of wonderful sandy beaches and coves, as well as a variety of colourful birdlife. The island is laden with colonial atmosphere, ranging from the old stone windmills of long-abandoned sugar plantations, to the renovated naval base of Nelson’s Dockyard. Few islands in the Caribbean are more beautiful than St. Lucia; the ‘Jewel of the Windward Islands’. There are also many unspoilt beaches, sheltered by spectacular coral reefs. Away from St. Lucia’s idyllic beaches, welcoming open-air markets offer a variety of goods, ranging from fresh fruit to unique woodcarvings and handicrafts.
Located just nine miles south of St. Vincent, Bequia is the largest of the Grenadine Islands, fringed by golden, sandy beaches, with the tranquil Caribbean Sea gently lapping against the shore. Its picturesque capital, St. George’s, has long enjoyed the reputation of having the prettiest harbour in the Caribbean, with terraces of pale, colour-washed houses and cheerful red roofs. Much of the town’s charm results from the blend of two colonial cultures, which are reflected in typical 18th century French provincial houses and English Georgian architecture. Around the island, the scenery is equally appealing with the mountainous interior rising from a rugged coast blessed with dazzling white beaches.
With miles of crystal-white sands graced by towering palms, sparkling turquoise waters and an idyllic atmosphere, the very English island of Barbados is the perfect place to enjoy you last day in the Caribbean.
