Cycling for Softies in Holland

We think there’s no better way to enjoy Holland’s natural beauty than by bike, the way the locals do, and exploring with new friends is even better.

The region’s low-lying terrain provides for a very relaxed itinerary packed full of interest. You’ll stay in Noordwijk, on the North Sea coast and enjoy three full days of cycling. You will visit Delft, famous for its blue pottery, and Leiden, the city of Rembrandt’s birth and where he learnt to paint. Cycle to The Hague, political capital since the 16th Century and the popular beach resort of Scheveningen. In Amsterdam, the laid back capital, you take a guided tour away from the busy tourist areas, through the East Side, where you fi nd some of the most beautiful parts of the city including the Plantage District.

If you’re looking for great fun, interesting scenery and a sociable holiday, then two wheels is definitely the way forward.

This four star hotel, with sauna, pool and fitness centre, is close to the beach and has 504 rooms and several restaurants and bars. All rooms are en suite with minibar and hairdryer.

A note about the cycling
The cycling on this tour is designed to be suitable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness. The pace is gentle and journeys broken with plenty of stops.

Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Amsterdam where you will meet your Just Friends tour leader and fellow cyclists before transferring to your hotel on the North Sea coast. Welcome drink and traditional dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: A full day ride to Delft. Visit a ceramics factory to see how the famous Delft Blue is made then cycle to Leiden, birthplace of Rembrandt, for a visit to the Citadel for dramatic views over the city. Return to the hotel.

Day 3: Cycle along the coast to the resort of Scheveningen, with its golden sandy beach and grand buildings. Continue on to The Hague, political capital of the Netherlands with free time to visit the galleries and museums before returning to the hotel.

Day 4: Travel by coach to the buzzing capital, Amsterdam, for a guided cycle tour. See the Tropical Museum, Artis Zoo and the delightful ‘Plantage’ District. Stop at a local brewery for a tasting. This evening there will be a farewell dinner at the hotel.

Day 5: Leave the hotel and transfer to the airport for the flight back to the UK.
