Christmas markets are very much a part of the traditional German Christmas and some of the most spectacular are held in the medieval city of Nuremberg. Beneath the Gothic towers and half-timbered houses, the richly-decorated market stalls sell traditional goodies including delightful Christmas decorations, charming handicrafts and excellent gifts for friends and family back home. You will also visit Bamberg, a real gem of a town with narrow cobblestone streets, ornate mansions and impressive churches. Set in the rolling Franconian hills, Bamberg’s blessed with dazzling attractions, reflecting over 1,000 years of styles ranging from Romanesque to Gothic and Renaissance to Baroque. It’s also known as the ‘beer drinker’s Eden’ for its heavenly brews.
