It's the world-famous Cologne Carnival, which has been celebrated in a big way every February since Medieval times.
Not only do the residents of Cologne regard themselves as the friendliest people in Germany and makers of the best beer in the country, they also believe their carnival is the world's craziest. Every February Cologne’s streets are filled with imaginatively decorated floats, elegantly attired horses, giant puppets and effigies – and parades that can take as long as six hours to pass by. It's a carnival alright, and what a carnival!
